Spring Harvest 2018

Shine through the night
pomegranate seeds
aureole of mango
feel the sacred pulse
of earth emerging

my heart
desiccated
from a lifetime
of disappointment
dealing
with grown ups
drinks deep this spring rain

tears
of gratitude
for each voice
hundreds
of thousands
of young people
united for truth

a spoonful
of red tangy seeds
each one pops juicy
full of promise
but that’s not all
the core yields nutty satisfaction
substantial
resurrection

my spirit
limp
from lies
revives
in the courage
of their words

beyond politics
they restore the value
of each human life

fertile sunrise
firm yet soft
smooth mango
honey sweet

is wisdom
reclaimed
in this spring harvest
